Creation is Groaning…

“For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The violence, the pain, the heartache overwhelming our country and world is not some distant thought or meaningless current event for me. As well it shouldn’t be. Because any circumstance affecting our neighbor is already too close to home.

Being a person who believes that they were created to make a difference can seem like an impossible reality in our present world, our assignment – a daunting task, our efforts – futile.

But I refuse to sit here and despair. I refuse to sit here and let anger or fear or the emotional fatigue of it all consume me.

I am convinced, now more than ever, that these are the moments for which we were made. Prayer Warriors. Dreamers. Builders. “Restorers of the breach” gifted with the “ministry of reconciliation”.

Blessed are YOU: Peace-Makers, Justice-Seekers, Friends to the Stranger, Host to the Widow, the Orphan, the Destitute & Dying – or under present circumstance, friends, family members, co-workers, and the like, just trying to get back home. Or the chance to make a new home.

Your love of Him is made known in the earth by your love for your neighbor, both near and far.

More than ever, I am committed to recharging my prayer life, shifting my focus to the gifts that God has given me to make an impact, and reassessing the call on my life. My journey to seminary, my passion for ministry is not just about standing behind a pulpit, or simply teaching the same, already-believing faces why salvation matters, or why they should live holy, or telling them how God is going to bless them, without any lasting effect on our community or the desperate world around us.

Not in spite of, but in light of all that is taking place in our society, I want to be EQUIPPED to GO wherever the Lord would send me to make a difference. I want every bit of the potential He placed in me, before I was formed in my mother’s womb, to be used up, to be poured out, to and for others. I want to show Christ’s Compassion, I want to bring Heaven’s Hope, I want to minister God’s Grace to a lost, hurt and dying world.

We have all been called and given gifts to make a difference, for the Body of Christ, and the world in which we live. As we celebrate Black History, I am committed to PRAY and LIVE and WORK for the PEACE of my city, our nation and our world.

Because believe it or not, our lives, our work, our role in our world right now will be Black History for someone – our children, grandchildren, and generations to come.

“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭12:30-31‬ ‭ESV‬‬
