Leaping Alone

“And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.”‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭6:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There may be times as we begin to leap, embracing the place God has for us, rejoicing in the face of adversity, and leaving behind our previous state of immobility that we may find that we must leap alone.

What we consider an appropriate reaction to all that the Lord has done in our lives, others, even those close to us, may consider undignified or over-the-top. As you worship, rejoicing at the return of what was once lost, it is possible that some of the spectators in your life may say that “it doesn’t take all of that”. While you are celebrating the fact that your “mourning has been turned to dancing”, there may be someone unable to appreciate or experience the mirth of the moment. And as they watch you dance with abandon, the excitement of your public display may be lost on them.

Dance anyway!

Rejoice before your Audience of One, because He has done too much for you to keep still or remain silent. Live your faith out loud. Experience joy in the depth of your being. Go ahead and leap alone. After all, the Lord is watching, and before you know it, He will bring others alongside you who will gladly share in your dance!

  1. This a powerful message of Faith and Gratitude. The faith to leap alone and the expression of gratitude toward God, not to care about how others procieve you.

    1. Thank you very much!
