Yesterday, we reflected on the need to take our metaphorical overflowing bag and empty it all out. Yet, I know the feeling all too well of wanting to find release, to let it all go in God’s Presence, but our minds won’t stop racing. Everything around us becomes a distraction. I find my best avenue to opening up in my time with God is worship. It focuses my heart, steadies my attention, and begins the process of resetting my affections.
Worship brings us into greater awareness of God’s majesty, yet humbles our hearts as we stand, sit, kneel, or lay prostrate in awe of the incomprehensible desire of the God of all creation to draw close to us, despite our flaws, faults and failures. Worship restores our perspective on who God is and who He says we are.
Music has always been an integral part of my worship, prayer, and writing experience. During my 40 days lighter journey, there were songs that reached me in ways that allowed me to experience the burden-lifting power of God’s presence.
As I began this 40 Days Lighter Reboot, I decided to revisit my personal “40 Days Lighter Playlist”. The songs remain as relevant to my journey now as when I first added them to my playlist. with you to help set the atmosphere as you make your way through 40 Days Lighter: A Devotional Journey for Women Determined to Live Free!
I pray that as you listen, you will be encouraged by these songs, and maybe get inspired to create your own playlist as you read and reflect along this journey. Also feel free to comment if there’s a song you don’t see here that would make a good addition to the playlist!
