40 Days Lighter – Day 40: Ready to Run

First, please let me say how utterly amazed I am at the outpouring of encouragement I have received throughout this 40 Days Lighter Journey! I am at a loss for the perfect words to express just how much I appreciate each and everyone of you who has taken the time to join me on this journey!

Second, for those of you who hopped into the story a little later on, please be sure to take a look at 40 Days Lighter – Day 1. There you will find out more about the challenge that inspired this journey, and some of the resources I have used in my reflections and change implementation along the way.

As I wrap up Day 40 of this amazing experience, know that my story is not over. I am still growing – lighter, wiser and better! And I have discovered that with all of this preparation, I am now ready to run!

This journey started, with me feeling like I needed to seriously declutter my mind, heart and life. I now end this adventure, having dropped serious weight, openly and transparently addressing the inner wrestlings of my heart, and deepening my relationships in ways I never knew possible.

So as I head off to bed, in awe of all that God has accomplished in me during this time, I will leave you with this thought, in the hope that you too, will take a step of faith into purpose, and find your way to living lighter and living free!

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”

Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)

40 Days Lighter – Day 30: THANK YOU!

Thank You

I honestly don’t even know where to start, but I needed to pause tonight, on DAY 30(!) to tell each and every one of you – my readers, my supporters, my encouragersa big, hearty, tear-filled THANK YOU!

I am amazed at the response to my decision to share this journey – it has been far beyond anything I even imagined or hoped for.

For every affirmation you have sent my way, letting me know that I am on the right path to fully embracing my purpose – THANK YOU!

For the unmistakeable sense of community – expressed through every “Yes! I was thinking the same thing!” or “I really needed this today!” or “Thank you for your transparency!” – THANK YOU!

To those of you who challenged me to go deeper – THANK YOU for pushing me beyond my own perceived limitations – in my writing, in my sharing, in my living.

For every time you read, you liked, you shared, you commented; every time you mentioned StepIn2Purpose to a friend, or made one of my pieces a topic of conversation – THANK YOU!

And more than anything, THANK YOU to my Father in Heaven, the Giver of good gifts – for not only placing within me the words to tell my story, and more importantly, the story of HIS love for us – but also, for giving me the gift of YOU.

We have 10 days to go in this 40 Days Lighter series, but the journey is far from over!

Stay tuned, (no really, stay tuned!), and keep stepping into purpose with me!

Leap-Causing Connections

Ultrasound Photo

“And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Have you ever had a conversation with a friend or mentor that left you feeling incredibly alive and energized? Have you ever shared a moment with someone that you couldn’t find adequate words to describe – you simply knew that something had changed within you?

If your answer to the questions above is “YES!”, then you have experienced a leap-causing connection!

According to Luke 1:41, when Mary, the soon-to-be mother of Jesus came in contact with her significantly older cousin Elisabeth, the Divine Purpose within Mary caused the baby within Elisabeth’s womb to leap. The scripture says that at that moment she was filled with the Holy Spirit – at least 33 years before we see the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the upper room in the Book of Acts!

I once heard it said in a sermon, that this moment may have been especially significant for Elisabeth because it is possible that she had not felt the baby “quicken” in her womb up to this point. Feeling my babies move within me will always be a memory I carry for my entire life, as it was a vivid reminder that the little person inside was alive and well. We know from scripture that her child would be John the Baptist – the one called to be the forerunner of Jesus, preparing the way for His arrival and ministry, and declaring the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven.

There are some connections in life that can cause your purpose to awaken and leap within you!

For some of us, it may have been a long time since we felt our purpose, or the thing we were created to birth out move within us. We doubted that it had survived the storms and turmoil of life, the criticism of naysayers, the discouragement of dream stealers, the abuse of envious hope-takers, or the internal dysfunction of our own personal identity crisis. Yet one day we came in contact with someone that caused the potential buried deep down inside to begin to stir again. Your purpose and passion connecting with that individual even caused you to have an experience or to conceive an idea that was ahead of its time, ushering in a new era for your life and for generations to come! In this season, it is critical to seek out, nurture and cherish these relationships, as they remind us that we are not alone, and let us know that our “baby” inside is alive and well!

If you have not yet had this experience, then I encourage you to allow this post to begin to massage the heart of your passion and purpose again to bring it back to life.

I pray leap-causing connections over everyone who reads this, and I look forward to seeing what will be brought to life and birthed out of those relationships!
